SOLD $2,100

GREAT BRITAIN, George III, pattern cartwheel penny, 1797, in silver on thin flan (17.25g), large undraped bust of George III right, otherwise similar to currency issue by the Soho Mint Birmingham (Peck 1086). Toned, nearly very fine and very rare, obverse rim damage at 10 o'clock, reverse rim test nick at 6.30 o'clock mentioned for accuracy, but not detracting from eye appeal of this rarity.

Ex A.H.F. Baldwin Collection.
