L. PAPIUS, (c.79 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.84 grams), obv. Juno Sospita head to right, wearing goat's skin, shield symbol behind, rev. Gryphon prancing to right, eagle symbol below, L PAPI in exergue, (S.311, Cr.384/1, Syd.773, RSC.Papia 1). Serrated, blue and gold patina, good very fine and very scarce.
