MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), gold stater, (8.264 grams), uncertain Black Sea mint, issued 250-200 B.C., obv. head of Athena to right in crested Corinthian helmet, ornamented with griffin, rev. Nike standing to left, holding wreath in outstretched hand, to left **BASILEWS, DI* in lower left field, to right **ALEXANDPO[U]*, (cf.S.6702; cf.Price P10 [p.204], M.-, BMC.-). Pin holes and mounting on edge, otherwise good very fine.
