GEORGE VI, Melbourne Mint proof or pattern penny, 1945. Fully brilliant with golden red obverse,more reddish brown reverse, FDC and excessively rare, the only specimen in private hands.

Ex Museum of Victoria duplicates Sale (Spink Australia July 1988, Sale 25 lot 953) and Noble Numismatics Sale 48 (lot 1763). Only pennies struck in Perth dated 1945 were supplied to Treasury in the final year of World War II. This coin along with the shilling of 1945 are among the rarest Commonwealth issues.
