ROYAL HUMANE SOCIETY OF AUSTRALIA, medal in bronze, awarded to 'W.F.Forrester / 15th Aug 1885' engraved on reverse. Very fine.

The 1886 Annual Report has the following citation in relation to Mr Forrester's bravery award. Case No.429. 'Walter Francis Forrester, aged 25 years, saved the life of Milicent Morgan, aged 5 years, by jumping into the Coliban River on 15th August 1885. Forrester, though a bad swimmer, took off his boots and jumped in, and brought the child safely to the banks of the river. It was with difficulty Forrester saved the child's life, as he was greatly exhausted. Depth of water, 20 feet'. The Coliban River flows between Lake Eppalock and Malmsbury in Victoria. Together with photocpoy of confirmation of award from the Royal Humane Society of Australia.
