SABINA, wife of Hadrian, (died A.D.136-7), AE sestertius, issued 131, (26.22 grams), Rome mint, obv. draped bust to right of Sabina, with hair knotted at back of head, around SABINA AVGVSTA HADRI[ANI] AVG P P, rev. Pietas enthroned to left, holding patera and sceptre, around PIETAS, SC in exergue, (S.3935, RIC H1029, C.48, BMC 1870). Fine and rare.

Ex Noble Numismatics, privately April 3, 2004 and previously from the Cornelius C. Vermeule III Collection, Boston, sold in Triton III (lot 1709 part) for the benefit of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts with his ticket and previously from Munzhandlung, Basel c. 1942.
