MARCUS AURELIUS, (A.D. 161-180), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 179, (2.760 grams), obv. laureate head of Marcus Aurelius to right, around M AVREL AN TONIINVS AVG, rev. around TR P XXXIII IMP X COS III P P, Salus seated to left, holding branch, snake around altar, (cf.S.4949, BMC 789, RIC 403, RSC 968). Steel blue tone, nearly extremely fine/good very fine and scarce.

Ex Dr. Charles E. Weber Collection with his ticket and previously from E. Button, Frankfurt, (Germany), June 25 1946. No examples of this type present in the Reka-Devnia Hoard.
