ANONYMOUS SERIES, (c.211-207 B.C.), AE as, (49.24 grams), obv. laureate head of Janus, I above, rev. prow to right, above I, below ROMA, (S.627 [£140 VF], Cr.56/2, Syd.143, BMC 217). Dark brown patina, very fine or better, and scarce.

Ex Dr. Charles E. Weber Collection with his ticket. An ununusually fine and very heavy example of this the first of the post-reform issues struck about 211 B.C.
