MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, gold stater, modern forgery in gold, (8.042 grams), obv. head of Athena to right in crested Corinthian helmet, ornamented with serpent, rev. Nike standing to left, **S* in left field, lrgend of **[ALE]XANDR[OU]* to right, (cf.S.6702, Price F28 [Pl.CLIV] [Same dies]). Extremely fine.
