MACEDON, kingdom of Demetrios Poliorketes, (294 - Autumn 288 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.900 grams), Pella mint, c.289-8 B.C., obv. diademed and horned head of Demetrios to right, rev. Poseidon standing to left, holding trident, right foot on rock, to right **BASILEWS, to left **DHMHTRIOU, monogram KPE (KP reversed) in far left field, (cf.S.6764 [£650], Newell 89 different obverse die, Hunter 6, SNG Ash. 3250). Attractive light tone, good very fine and rare.

Ex Spink and Son, London with their ticket and Noble Numismatics Sale 56 (lot 1822). Newell describes seven coins of this type with these monograms, the dies of this coin not published in his corpus.
