ITALY, Bruttium, Caulonia, silver stater, 460-450 B.C. (Kraay chronology), (7.896 grams), obv. Apollo naked walking to right, before him a small stag standing to right, looking back, KAV**L* behind downwards reversed, rev. stag standing to right, before a sapling growing, [K]AV retrograde above, (S.462, Hartwig Collection March 1910 [lot 420 same dies], Schlessinger XIII [Hermitage Duplicates, sold 1935 lot 166 same dies], Noe 83 [same dies]). Good fine and very rare.

Noe notes that this rare series with this die combination is known for four examples and these not in any public collections.
