BOIOTIA, Thebes. Circa 480-460 BC. AR Stater (11.582 grams). obv. Boiotian shield, rev. Square incuse with clockwise mill-sail pattern; **Q* in centre. (S.1783, cf.Head, Boeotia p. 16, vii, pl. I, 7 = BMC p. 67, 1 pl XI, 1 (anti-clockwise mill-sail pattern); SNG Cop. 248). Very fine, obverse in high relief, even dark grey patina, rare.
