HADRIAN, (A.D. 117-138), gold aureus, issued 128, Rome mint, (7.396 grams), obv. laureate head to right of Hadrian, around HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS P P, rev. COS III around, she wolf standing right, suckling the twins Romulus and Remus, (cf.S.3388, RIC 192, C.420). Has been mounted, many surface marks, otherwise very fine, a scarce variant.
