IONIA, Phokaia, (c.477-388 B.C.), electrum hekte or sixth stater, (2.508 grams), obv. Youthful male head with diadem to left, rev. quadripartite incuse punch, (cf.S.4530 [£550], Bodenstedt 63b [same dies], M&M list 318 (1970) No.16 [same dies]). Nearly very fine, and rare.

Ex Dr. Colin Burnside Collection, and previously from Noble Numismatics Sale 66 (lot 3239). Bodenstedt records two coins from these dies and apparently all known specimens come from the same obverse die spread over four reverse dies. A total of seven coins are recorded for this type from all known dies.
