NEW ZEALAND, The New Zealand Banking Company, Kororarika, unissued sterling cheque form dated 184., One of the earliest known examples of New Zealand banking history. Extremely fine.

Printed for issue at Kororarika (now Russell), Bay of Islands where the first branch of the bank was opened. Along with a hand written pencil note 'Opened at Russell in 1839 & moved to Auckland in 1842. First N.Z. Bank - The N.Z. Banking Coy. went out of business in 1844'. Although the New Zealand Banking Company issued banknotes during it's short period of existence, none are extant.
