MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.10 grams), Memphis mint (Egypt), issued c.332-323 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, rose to left, **DI under throne, to right of throne O, to far right **ALEXANDROU*, (cf.S.6713, Price 3971, BMC 3971a-e, Demanhur hoard 4614-4747, M.124). Nearly very fine/fine and scarce.

This issue from Memphis is one of the more interesting issues because of the association of Egypt with Alexander the Great. It as a type is widely sought after and has further been as an issue researched extensively in a doctoral thesis by Dr. O. Zervos in 1974
