NERO, (A.D. 54-68), gold aureus, Rome mint, issued A.D. 64-65, (7.4 grams), obv. laureate head of Nero to right, around NERO CAESAR AVGVSTVS, rev. around AVGVSTVS AVGVSTA, Nero radiate wearing togate facing to left, holding patera, and long sceptre, beside him on right empress Messalina veiled and draped, standing left, holding patera and cornucopiae, (S.668, RIC 44, BMC 52). Good very fine and very rare.
