REPUBLIC, Julius Caesar, (assassinated 44 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued 44 B.C., (3.52 grams), obv. laureate head of Julius Caesar to right, before CAESAR behind IMPER, rev. Venus standing to left, Victory in right hand, sceptre in left hand, M METTIVS downwards, B in field (cf.S.363, Cr.480/17, Syd.1055). Attractive portrait, but double struck legends and on reverse figure, otherwise good fine and toned.
