REPUBLIC, Julius Caesar, (assassinated 44 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued 44 B.C., obv. laureate head of Julius Caesar to right, traces of CAESAR DICT PERPETVO around, rev. Venus standing to left, Victory in right hand, sceptre in left hand, L.BVCA downwards, (cf.S.361, Cr.480/8, Syd.1061). Attractive portrait, weak obverse legends, surface scratches, otherwise fine, portrait very fine and scarce.
