REPUBLIC, Julius Caesar, (assassinated 44 B.C.), AE dupondius, uncertain mint, issued 45 B.C., (11.54 grams), obv. CAESAR DIC TER, bust of Victory draped to right, star behind, dotted border, rev. C CLOVI PRAEF, minerva standing to left, holding trophy over shoulder and spear and shield in other hand, snake before, dotted border, (S.365, Cr. 476/1b, Syd. 1026, RPC 601). Rough surfaces, otherwise good very fine and scarce.
