REPUBLIC, L. Papius, (c.79 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, obv. Juno Sospita head to right, Crawford control marks 87. rev. gryphon leaping to right, L.PAPI in exergue, another T. Carisius, (c.46 B.C.), Rome mint, obv. head of Juno Moneta to right, MONETA downwards, rev. anvil die with garlanded punch die above, tongs and hammer, T CARISIVS below, (S.-, 321; Cr.384/1, 464/2; Syd.773, 982). Porous and heavily cleaned, otherwise very good - fine. (2)

The second coin is a direct allusion to the office of moneyer. All the other types of this moneyer are connected with the triumphs of Julius Caesar or the traditions of his family.
