HEPHTHALITES, Vasu Deva and Mardan Shah, (A.D. 600-719), silver drachm, (3.14 grams), obv. facing bust of Sassanian Khusru II style drachm, Pehlvi legend around, rev. facing bust of radiate sun-god derived from that of coins of Khusru II, Brahmi and Pehlvi legends around, (M.1563, Gobl 216), Good very fine and rare.

Mitchiner values the issue at Å“400. Gobl claims the coins seem to bear the date 35, year 35 of Khursu II was A.D. 624 the year in which Mardanshah, Sassanian viceroy of Nimruz was executed. This was a joint issue by Vasu Deva, king of Zavlistan and Mardanshah, viceroy of Nimruz, with a seat at Kerman (Kermansahan).
