Estimate $500
Bid at live.noble.com.au
SOLD $850

WILLIAM IV, proof set, 1835, silver issues of quarter, half and rupee, all with F in relief, Calcutta mint, (Pr. 38, -, 92, KM.448.1, cf.449.2, 450.2). Sharp FDC with attractive blue and gold tone, rare. (3)

Ex. S. Hagley Collection. $$ It is probable that some of these pieces may be early restrikes, although the rupee is probably much latter as it has some evidence, on the obverse, of the use of pitted dies. The half rupee with F raised, is apparently unpublished by both Krause or Pridmore, while the quarter rupee which is very sharp, may be an original proof striking.
