SOLD $950

BOMBAY PRESIDENCY, Indian Design, Bombay mint, 1801-1802, in the name of Shah Alam II (A.H.1173-1221, A.D. 1759-1806), gold mohur, (11.59 grams), with frozen Regnal Year 4[6], privy mark No.2 (3 lozenges 1 over 2 over inverted crescent), dumpy flan, without A.H. date, (Pr. 257, KM.242, Not in BMC). Nearly extremely fine, and very rare.

The E.I.C. used the crescent mint mark at Bombay from 1801 which in 1802 was replaced by an issue with a panel in the field with an incuse 1802 within. This above issue had a very limited issue, and seemingly few specimens apparently survive.

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
