SICILY, Syracuse, decadrachm by Euainetos, c.400 B.C., (41.72 grams), obv. galloping quadriga driven to l., by charioteer holding goad, crowned by Nike flying r. above, in exergue panoply of armour consisting of cuirass flanked by greaves, shield to l. and crested helmet on r., rev. head of Arethusa to l., wreathed with barley, with four dolphins around, traces of mint name and artist's signature below, (Gallatin dies R.IV/C.VIII, cf.S.953). Slightly short of flan and weight, even attractive colour, good very fine and rare.
