JOHN I TZIMISCES, (969-976), solidus, Constantinople mint, issued 969-976, Class IIb, obv. Christ enthroned facing wears nimbus, in hand the Gospels, rev. facing busts of the Virgin on right placing hand on head of John I on left wearing loros, who holds a long patriarchal cross, (S.1785, DOC 3). Good very fine and rare.
