MACEDON, Kingdom of Philip II, (359-336 B.C.), stater, (8.59 grams), probably Pella mint, issued c. 323-315 B.C., posthumously, obv. head of Apollo laureate to right, rev. biga to r., driven by charioteer holding goad, trace of wreath above, serpent to r., below and monogram of A and Pi, (cf.Le Rider 600-602 but these with Boeotian shield, cf.S.6663). Nearly extremely fine/extremely fine and a very rare variant.
