IONIA, Teos, stater, 540-520 B.C., (11.77 grams), obv. Griffin seated on back legs to r. on doted base, with foreleg raised, rev. quadripartite incuse square, (Balcer SNR 1968, Group I, S.3512). Very fine and rare.

Balcer notes 12 specimens from Group I which have no inscription or symbol. He notes 7 obverse and 10 reverse dies, these dies not previously noted.
