ITALY, Calabria, Taras, (272-235 B.C.), silver stater, (6.38 grams), obv. helmeted warrior in close fitting thorax and holding short javelin and shield on horse galloping to right, below traces of **APOL LWNIOS in two lines, **DI behind, rev. Taras astride a dolphin to left, holding a trident over shoulder, with Nike holding wreath flying on left to right, **TAP[AS] on right, waves below but off flan, (cf.S.375, Vl.896, SNG ANS 1214). Nearly very fine.
