MANUEL I, (1143-1180), electrum hyperpyron (scyphate), Constantinople mint, (4.27 grams), obv. Christ bust facing wearing nimbus, raising right hand, IC XC to left and right, rev. facing standing figure of Manuel I wearing crown divitision and chlamys, holding labarum and patriarchal cross on globe, 'manus Dei' in right upper field, to left MA/NQ/HL/**DE*C/**PO*TH, to right TW/**POR/F*V/PO/**GE*/NH/T/W, (S.1956, Hendy Pl.124, 1-11, BMC 1-13). Scratches on the reverse, large flan, double struck, good very fine and scarce.
