JUSTINIAN I, (A.D. 527-565), gold solidus, Thessalonica mint, (4.07 grams), issued 527-538, obv. helmeted and cuirassed bust of Justinian I, three quarters to right, holding spear and shield, around D N IVSTINI ANVS [P P AVG], rev. Victory standing to left, holding long voided cross, star in left field, around VICTOR I A [AV]GGG, CONOB in exergue, star in left field only, (S.173A [£1000,VF* £2500 EF], DOC.-, Hahn 21 but only with star in left and right fields). Off centred, nearly extremely fine and extremely rare, apparently an unpublished type.
