ITALY, Campania, Nola, (c.385-380 B.C.), silver stater or nomos, Group II, (6.84 grams), obv. female head to right, rev. man-headed bull walking to right, Nike crowning it above, legend in exergue off flan, (S.311 [£250], Rutter Group II, No.18 [obv. die 8, reverse die 112, SNG Ash 158 [same dies]). Good fine/fine and very rare.

Rutter in his 1979 definitive study on this coinage knew of only 194 examples of this mint in all the public and published private collections. Almost all known coins of this mint are worn. Only nine examples are known for this die combination.
