JORDAN, Victory Medal 14 October 1950. Extremely fine.

Features the obverse inscription translated as, 'Your victory is God so no one can defeat you'. Relates to the Arab-Israeli War of 1948, Jordan captured the Westbank and annexed it in 1950. This annexation was only recognised by Pakistan and the United Kingdom. However, on the 14 October 1950 a memorandum was issued by the Chief of Staff of UNTSO, American General William E Riley, on the Jordanian dissatisfaction with convoy arrangements under the demilitarization plan for Mount Scopus. As a result, new convoy arrangements were made whereby two Jordanian observers as well as two Israeli observers would be present when UN personnel inspected convoys before they departed from the Mandelbaum Gate area in no man's land.
