SOUTHERN BRITAIN, uninscribed issue, Atrebates, Atrebatic Abstract type (c.55 - 45 B.C.), gold stater, (5.78 g), obv. well-worn die no evidence of original abstracted head of Apollo, rev. disjointed horse right, horse with triple tail with pellet terminal and seven spoke wheel below horse, (S.39, Van A. 216-1 notes as rare). Very fine/extremely fine and rare.

Ex Ex Stephen Cole, (Salamanca Rare Coins), Hobart, bought November 30, 2006, acquired from Noble Numismatics Auction Sale 78 (lot 2511), previously from W.H. Lampard Collection acquired from Bruce Caygill, Christchurch stamp dealer c.1970's.
