POMPEY THE GREAT, (d.48.B.C.), silver denarius, uncertain Greek mint, (3.86 g), obv. diademed bust of Jupiter to right, behind [V]ARRO PRO Q, rev. sceptre between dolphin to right and eagle to left, in exergue MAGN PRO COS, (S.1374, Cr.447/1A, RSC 3, BMC Spain 64). Very fine with weakness on head of Jupiter/extremely fine and rare.

Ex D.J.Foster Collection and previously from I.S. Wright, Auction Sale 96 (lot 85).
