HONORIUS, (A.D. 393-423), gold solidus, issued at Constantinople mint in A.D. 408-420, (4.35 g), obv. helmeted bust to half right with elaborate dress, holding shield and spear over shoulder, around DN HONORI VS P F AVG, rev. Constantinopolis enthroned facing head right, holding sceptre and Victory, star in left field, around CONCORDI A AVGGH, in exergue CONOB, (S.20905, RIC 201, DOC 776-780). Full flan, good very fine and rare.

Ex D.J.Foster Collection and previously from Spink Noble Sale 43 (lot 1521).
