SICILY, Syracuse, Hiketas II, (287-278 B.C.), gold 60 litrai - dekadrachm (4.29 g). Struck circa 279/8 B.C., obv. Head of Persephone left, wearing wreath of grain ears, single-pendant earring, and pearl necklace; [äYPAKOä]IêN before, cornucopia behind, rev. Nike, holding kentron in right hand, reins in left, driving fast biga right; star above, **F* to right, A below, **EP*I IKETA in exergue, (S.978, Buttrey, Morgantina [NC 1973], dies 4/K; SNG ANS 778 var.; SNG Lloyd 1523 var. [torch on obv.]). Extremely fine with underlying lustre, minor edge cut on reverse, very rare.
