MACEDON, Terone, (500-480 B.C.), silver tetrobol or sixth stater, (2.04 g), obv. oinochoe to right in dotted circle, rev. quadripartite incuse square, (cf.S.1291, SNG ANS 748). Slightly chipped, nearly very fine and rare.

Ex Tom May Collection, Noble Numismatics Sale 99 (lot 3326), Sale 62, lot 1869.

Dr. Nicholas Hardwick in 'The Coinage of Terone from the Fifth to the Fourth Centuries BC' in Studies in Greek Numismatics in memory of Martin Jessop Price (pp.119-134, London, 1998), proposes that this issue is part of Group II-III and is c.490-460 B.C.
