JUSTINIAN I, (527-565), gold solidus, 1st Officina, issue of 538-545, Constantinople mint, 1st Officina, (4.38 g), obv. helmeted and cuirassed bust three-quarters facing, holding spear and shield, around DN IVSTINI ANVS PP AVC, rev. Angel standing facing holding long cross and cross on globe, around VICTORI A AVCCCA, in exergue CONOB, star in right field, (S.137, DOC (3a), SB 139, MIBE 6, R.440). Uneven flan, some ancient graffiti, otherwise good fine - nearly very fine.
