CAMBODIA, Kingdom of Kymer, early uniface coinage, c1580s-1603, gold quarter tical (3.46g), obv. Hamsa bird with vine branch in mouth, (cf.Mitch 3025, cf.Panish 1a). Very fine and extremely rare.

Mitchiner (p.392) notes that Gabriel Quiroga visiting the Cambodian Court in 1595 recorded that 'This Kingdom has its own coinage in gold and silver on which is inscribed a cock..'.
