L. CALPURNIUS PISO FRUGI, (90 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.90 grams), obv. Apollo laureate head to right, snake symbol behind head, rev. naked horseman galloping to right holding palm, L.PISO FRVGI, CIIII below, (S.235, Cr.340/1, B.Calpurnia 11). Obverse off centre, nearly very fine, scarce sub type.

This issue represents one of the principal Social war coinages of the Romans during the conflict with the Marsic Confederation.
