T. DIDIUS, (c.113-112 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.86 grams), obv. Roma helmeted head to right, ROMA monogram behind, rev. two gladiators fighting, one holds whip, the other a stave, T.DEIDI in exergue, (S.171, Cr.294/1, Syd.550, RSC Didia 2). Toned, good very fine and rare.

Ex Spink & Son, London, January 1988 with ticket. This type probably relates to T. Didius who was sent to Sicily in 138 B.C. to put down the revolting slaves.
