ITALY, Lucania, Metapontum, (c.480 B.C.), plated silver stater, (6.442 grams), obv. six grain ear of corn ear, META backwards and upwards to right, rev. six grain ear of corn ear incuse, (cf.S.238, Noe 236, SNG Cop. 1171, SNG Lockett 371). Very fine, rare.

Ex Tom Cederland, Portland, OR, with his ticket. Plated examples of coins from Metapontum are all very rare for this period.
