Estimate $600
Bid at live.noble.com.au

ITALY, Bruttium, Croton (Kroton), (500-460 B.C.), silver stater or nomos (8.06 grams), obv. tripod, crane to right, QPO upwards to left, rev. tripod, incuse, (S.256, SNG ANS 269, Gale 16, SNG Cop. 1751, SNG Munich 1426). Slightly of centred on reverse, weak in places, otherwise nearly very fine/good good fine and scarce.

This was a period when the issues were crudely struck on small dumpy flans, the tripods particularly on the reverse were very crude. An interesting step in the evolution to the next series of eagles on the reverse.
