AUGUSTUS, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), silver denarius, Uncertain Spanish mint (Colonia Patricia), issued c.18-17/6 B.C. (3.75 grams), obv. bare head of Augustus to left, rev. capricorn to right, holding globe attached to rudder, cornucopiae above its back, in exergue AVGVSTVS, (cf.S.477, RIC 130, C.22, BMC 307). Good fine and very rare.

Ex. B.A. Seaby, March 1989. The capricorn was the horoscopic sign of Augustus's conception.
