AUGUSTUS, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), silver cistophorus, Ephesus mint, issued 28-27 B.C., (12.05 grams), obv. laureate head of Octavian to right, around IMP CAESAR DIVI F COS VI LIBERTATIS P R VINDEX, rev. PAX in field to left, Pax standing half left on parazonium or torch, right hand holding caduceus, in field to right a snake emerging from cista mystica, all within laurel wreath, (S.-, RIC 476, C.218, BMC 691). Dark grey toned, good very fine or better, and very scarce.
