MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.495 grams), Mesembria mint, issued c.175-125 B.C., obv. Herakles head in lion skin to right, rev. Zeus seated left on throne, eagle in outstretched hand, Corinthian helmet to right on left above letters M A, monogram below throne of **APO, [B]ASILEW[S]* to right, **ALEXANDPOU to left, (cf.S.6713, Price 1082, BMC 1082, M.482). Dark tone, very fine or better.
