Bid at live.noble.com.au

NEW SOUTH WALES, five shillings or holey dollar, 1813, struck on a Charles IIII Lima Mint eight reales 1797 (Mira/Noble-unlisted, die I/2-B/6). Attractively toned, the countermarks very strongly struck resulting in slight dishing the corrosion spot at top of the host coin possibly the result of heating to get the deepest impression. Good very fine and very rare in this condition.

From an old English collection and ex Spink Noble sale 43 (lot 1613).
