THE SOCIETY FOR THE PROTECTION OF LIFE FROM FIRE, 1845, medal in silver, impressed around edge Miss L____?? James I___?rd, 19th November 1908. Name partially erased, otherwise very fine.

The Society for the Protection of Life from Fire was established in 1836, approximately twenty five bronze and (for Chief Officers of Fire Brigades) two or three silver medals are issued annually. There is no public record of the deed for which the medals are awarded.
