SYRIA, Kingdom of, Demetrius II, (145-140 B.C. first reign), silver tetradrachm, (16.112 grams), Seleucia on Tigris mint, obv. diademed head of Demetrius to right within fillet border, rev. Tyche seated to left with leg of throne a winged monster, holds sceptre and cornucopiae, in exergue monogram TAY. to right **BASILEWS DHMHTRIOU*, to left **FILADELFOU NKATOROS* (sic), (S.7053, SNG Spaer (Israel I) 1752 [Pl.113], ACNAC Houghton 1010). Cleaned, interesting die break on obverse, otherwise nearly very fine and scarce.
